Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you create an account we store your email address and a hashed version of your password (if you sign up with email). If you sign in with a third-party authentication provider (such as a social login), we receive your name and email — we never see your password for that service.

When you purchase review credits we pass your payment details directly to our payment processor. We store a record of the transaction (amount and date) but never see or store your card number.

We may also automatically collect technical information such as IP addresses, browser type, and usage data for the purposes of operating, maintaining, and improving the service.

How we handle your papers

Your uploaded PDF is processed for the sole purpose of generating a review. The text is extracted, sent to our AI provider, and the resulting review is returned to you. We do not permanently store your PDF or the generated review on our servers. Temporary processing may occur in memory or in transient storage that is deleted promptly after your request completes.

We contractually require our AI providers not to store your content or use it for model training. While we select providers with strong data-handling practices, we cannot guarantee the conduct of third-party services — please refer to their own privacy policies.

Browser extension

Our optional Browser extension (“review.fun — AI Paper Reviewer”) lets you submit papers for review directly from your browser. The extension:

• Reads the URL of your active tab to detect whether the page is a PDF. It does not access your browsing history or any other tabs.
• Stores your authentication token in your browser's local extension storage so you stay signed in. This token is only transmitted to review.fun to authenticate API requests.
• When you initiate a review, the extension fetches the PDF from the URL displayed in your active tab and sends it to the review.fun API. The PDF is handled the same way as a web upload — not permanently stored on our servers.
• The extension does not collect analytics and does not track your browsing activity. It communicates only with review.fun and the URL of the PDF you choose to review.

Third-party services

We rely on third-party services to operate review.fun, including providers for payment processing, authentication, AI review generation, and transactional email. Each provider is governed by its own privacy policy. We select providers with strong data-handling practices, but we are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.

Data security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention & deletion

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You may exercise these rights by emailing us at the address below. We will use reasonable efforts to process requests within 30 days, subject to any legal retention requirements.

Children's privacy

review.fun is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and may use first-party cookies or similar technologies for functional and analytical purposes. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
